I agree, all of my 24 tunnel-boxes have a mouse trap at the rear of the T-Rex rat trap resulting in a regular catch of a mouse and a rat together.
I’m also convinced that when a mouse is caught it acts as an attraction to a rat to predate/cosume the mouse.
So many caught rats and mice are consumed by something!. Leaving just the head inside the trap.

Rats and mice cohabitate in the bush and in manmade environments. More rats = fewer mice, fewer rats = more mice, due to competition for resources and/or predation.

We use a mouse trap in the back of the tunnel with T-rex’s. I find Victor rat traps have less foul-traps and catch mice better than a T-rex and are now replacing the T-rex’s, as they wear out/break with Victors - which we’ve also caught weasels in. I also have a toothbrush and pottle of Prolan to clean the springs and metal bits.
