Adding trap calibration weight to DOC200s

Kia ora,

I’ve recently found our DOC200’s need to be re-calibrated. All mechanisms need to be removed and re-calibrated to a fine-tuned weight system (not triggering at 60g, triggering only at 80g, but a tolerance at 100g, removal of mechanism if no trigger at 100g). Currently there is no way of notifying in TrapNZ if a trap has been calibrated, so I’ve selected “battery charge” as this is the only feature we don’t use in our project and is a function I can easily search for in reports when trying to figure out which trap still needs to be calibrated to this new weight system (at least 550 DOC200’s will need to be re-calibrated).

So, my feature requests for the phone app is this:
Can we have “Calibrated” added into trap “Condition” drop down list?

A more complex request, but useful information:
Can we have a sliding weight calibration bar added to the trap itself, similar to what is used for bait stations for poison. This enables each trap mechanism to have a record of what weight the trap is actually calibrated at and will trigger at while in the field.

Ngā mihi,
Emma.

Hi
I’m not sure if it the way it is written or you have the wrong info. there is no need to remove any mechanism to adjust the set off weight, 80 grams is a good weight as it will also get Weasels.
there must be a heap of you tube videos on how to adjust the set off weight, just don’t look at the DOC one they put weight in different spots when re checking which is just dumb
an easy way to adjust the sear up ( increases set off weight ) is to buy a cheap small screwdriver and bend the end over at 90 deg then it will slide under the sear with trap in box and you can tap it to adjust, adjust down just tap with a screwdriver and small hammer
If you are doing so many take the time to make and verify weights like on accurate kitchen scales , I use nuts on a piece of fine wire 20mm nut is about 100 grams 16mm is generally 80 grams
what is important is that you put the weight in the same place every check, work out the centre of opening in inner wire baffle and use that
don’t forget to always use a safety clip and to put the safety at the centre of trap if you put it on the outside like heaps of people do you will end up with twisted traps

I think thats a great idea, as it stands at the moment I have to note calibration details in a notebook so that I have a record I can refer back to
