Alternative mapping app to Viewranger

This question isn’t related to trap.nz. But I used to use Viewranger app on my smart phone to record my outdoor tracks. They were then bought out by outdoor active and I have found the new version terrible.

Does anybody recommend any phone app for recording walking tracks?

Hi @bernard

You could try GPS Essentials (Android app - free but has ads).

Note that you can use Trap.NZ to record tracks. It will do it automatically when you walk a line
see:

And you can also use the adhoc track function - see:

I switched from Viewranger to NZTopo50; it is very user friendly and has layers for DoC tracks, huts, campsites etc and other NZ specific features. Highly recommended.
