AT 220: For several weeks I have daily checked my two Auto traps to find the lure trays dry and empty even though the night before I have manually operated to fill it.
There are Cockroaches living under the ‘hood’ when I lift them, so are they possibly responsible?
To eliminate the possibility of birds consuming it during the day (when the traps wont spring), I have resorted to manually filling them at dusk and then inspecting it next day, usually before 12pm and find they are both clean and dry of Mayonnaise bait.
Are there other users out there experiencing the same?

Hi bsquared, David here from NZAT. Our traps re-lure themselves at the start of the night when they leave the daytime deactivation time, ensuring there is fresh lure on offer for the pests that night. You shouldn’t need to manually refill the traps lure tray, the trap does this itself for you.
Some birds and invertebrates will use the lure as a supplementary feed station (particularly this time of year when food availability is low) visiting the trap during its daytime deactivation time.
Hope that helps, any further questions let me know.
Thanks for the comment David. I suspect you are right and that something is using it for supplementary feed. It might be Wax Eyes, as there was just a dislocated wing below a trap a few days ago with the carcass missing and presumably eaten by a rodent. They must be early starters to be caught when the traps are still active, as they are located in bush where sunrise light will be at very low intensity. Just guessing here, but it would fit as this has only started since the onset of deepest winter. I assume the trap senses daylight from the PIR eye? Regards…
Hi there. Not good if a waxeye was caught in the trap. Must be a very early riser to be active when the trap is.
Make sure the trap eyes are clean, there are 3 eyes - two on the underside of the trap, and another on the left hand side of the trap. Here is a useful video to help with cleaning
