Hi everyone,
I’m writing to you from Germany as we want to test DOC traps in a predator control project for waders. We got some DOC traps from an online shop in Finland, however they did not sell the setting tool. There are shop with these tools in the UK but after Brexit they no longer ship to Germany. So far I have not found a shop in NZ either, that would ship to Germany, so my idea was to ask a friend who works in metal construction to build us one.
So my question to you is if you could send me dimensions of the DOC 200/250 setting tool and maybe a photo with the dimensions given for the individual parts?
Hi what DOC traps did you buy the 200 or 250 as they can use different tools and safety catches
I make a range of setting tools for the DOC traps but sending to Germany is not economical but if you tell me which trap you have I might be a able to post dimensions so you can make some
cheers
Hi the attached sketch should give you enough info to make a 250 setting tool, sorry I don’t have full drawing as for my manufacture I work from a pile of sketches and jigs
this is lighter and nicer to use than the std DOC one
note that the 184 dimension is from the centre of hole for the arm to the inside of the tube
the other photo is the tool I make for 200’s but it can be used for the 250 you just don’t have the same control, easy enough to work that out without dimensions
some people just put a piece of rope through the lifting handle and use that to set traps
good luck
perfect, thank you very much. That should work!
Good luck to you and all forum members with trapping and getting rid of all the predators that don’t belong to NZ!
