Recording pest interactions from Smart Traps eg Critter Solution Multi Trap (not kills)

We are using Critter Solution Multi Trap, however we are trying to work out the best way to record interactions on Trap.nz when the AI camera detects a pest but doesnt kill it? If we add a trap record for the trap with a possum, but zero strikes, and status of “trap interfered with” will this add the possum to the trap talleys even through it hasnt been killed?

This is for a PF2050 eradication projects so need to capture this data so we can make sure the individual possum is removed.

Cheers
Kane

As work around i’ve suggested we record each interaction as an observation however this isnt linked to the trap site.

Next question is how can these traps be linked via sensors to say they have been triggered or captured an animal?

@kanem if you are using one of the current sensor providers available on trap.nz you can just add the details to the trap which will then notify you of triggers, If not, you will need to contact support@trap.nz and ask about adding another sensor provider to trap.nz

@kanem for non-kill interactions, maybe you could add a camera trap installation at the same location, then kills can be recorded by your trap and non-kills go through the camera trap? Seems like non-kill interactions would be best recorded under “monitoring” rather than “traps”, and it would keep the data out of the kill stats but within TrapNZ.
