I’m trying to figure out the best way to install traps when there are multiple traps at the same location.
Option 1: on the website add supplementary traps. Supplementary traps are easy to individually select on the map as they are displayed slightly apart. The problem I see here is that the supplementary traps aren’t included in the trap inventory. And it looks like you can’t “retire” them unless you retire the whole set, but you can delete them. Would deleting a supplementary trap mean that the data then disappears or would it remain connected to the main trap?
Option 2: on the App add a co-located trap. Is this a better way to go? Any pitfalls? Do they overlay each other on the map and make individual selection tricky?
I have searched the forum but responses are all several years old so current intel would be much appreciated.
@sally_albrecht there’s no issue on the app with trap overlay - when you tap on a group of traps they pop out into separate labels with leader lines going back to their location. The one place that selecting same-location traps is tricky is on the website, because clicking on a group of traps will usually only get you the ‘top’ layer and you have to search by name to get at the lower ones.
Thanks Lenore. I have now deleted the supplementary traps, but now when I click “Add collocated installation” in the App nothing happens. What am I doing wrong here?
@sally_albrecht Is it opening a page where you can select an installation type? If not can you please email me at support@trap.nz with the type of phone you are using and the version of the app (in the about section of the menu) If you can send me a short video or screenshots of what you are seeing that would also be helpful.
Hi Lenore,
I played around with the App and have worked out how to do it.
If I’ve already selected a trap line, and then select a trap to add a co-located installation it doesn’t work i.e. the pop up to choose what type of installation doesn’t appear.
However, if I select a trap from the whole project map (before selecting a trap line) then the co-location button works.
It would be very useful to be able to select from the list within a trapline, as the method as it stands means kind of guessing which trap to select as they aren’t numbered on the map, sometimes it takes a few goes before the correct trap is selected. Perhaps an improvement that could be made in future.
Hope this makes sense!
Sally
