Trouble opening old bait stations

Most of the old bait stations on my line are hard to open using the key, sometimes needing to be levered open. I presume it’s because the polyethylene has hardened with age. Is this a common problem and do they need to be replaced at some stage?

Are they Protecta Sidekick stations?
We had troubles too, but it was the soft metal keys rather than the plastic boxes. The metal bends backwards little by little over time & so leverage is less effective. Arthritic hands don’t help!
Try bending the prongs forward a little, & see if that helps. It did for us somewhat, but the long-term solution is a move to Protecta EVOedge.

Yes.
Thanks, I’ll give that a try.
