Unnecessary cruelty

I live and trap in Mississippi, U.S. this is one of your trappers from NZ posting videos of unnecessary evildoing… this makes us ALL look bad. There’s absolutely no reason to post a video of yourself blowing an animal’s head off, point blank. THIS DOES NOT make you look cool or tough. I hope this gets back to him and he whole heartedly does better… disgusting and makes me ashamed to be a part of the trappers association community

If they shot this ferret in the head and killed it instantly, then it wasn’t cruel. And since ferrets are an invasive species in New Zealand, and are listed in the nation’s Predator Free 2050 eradication plan, it wasn’t unnecessary.
It may still be in bad taste to post it on social media, but a lot of pest control and hunting content is controversial.

It’s funny how people get upset about removing apex pests. Right now, a staggering 82% of our native bird species, 94% of our reptiles, and thousands of our unique insect species in New Zealand are facing extinction because introduced mammalian predators like this ferret are treating our islands like an all-you-can-eat buffet. It’s the ultimate top-heavy crisis.
Think of it like a country run by corrupt politicians: when a toxic ruling class at the top of the food chain does nothing but prey on the everyday population below them, you don’t ‘co-exist’ with them. You remove them so everyone else can finally live a peaceful life.
With respect, you’re on the wrong forum for this debate. We are focused on saving our native wildlife, period. That means using every tool at our disposal to eliminate the invasive predators wiping them out.
End of story.
