When I service a line the app keeps track of where I am and it is easy to locate the current trap. What is the benefit of using NFC (or QR code) compared to simply clicking on the current trap in the middle of the map ? Please add an explanation to the NFC section and GPS section in the User Guide.
Hi Pat,
In your ‘power user’ case it might only save three or four seconds - not a great saving - but some will value that. Not everyone is comfortable with maps, or apps, for those people it is one less technical blocker.
For one off trap checks it simplifies things greatly as you can just open the phone, tap the NFC and trap.nz will open onto the correct project and trap form. No need to get into the Trap.nz groove. The switching project is a big time saver.
For new trappers it gets them actively recording without getting too technical too soon, and for irregular trappers, they don’t need to relearn the map bit each time.
We have been using them locally for a little while in testing, and I have to say I have a ‘yes’ moment when I turn up at a trap with an NFC tag. We use a lot of sensors and they are across multiple projects - NFC comes into it’s own in this context.
